Sensitive skin has been our starting point ever since our founding. Every Green People product is created with sensitive skin in mind, even when it has been developed for a wider skin, hair or body care need.

Our mission is to support skin health through gentle, effective care, helping you feel comfortable and confident in your skin. Our wider vision is to be recognised as a leading skin health brand, known for our organic expertise and commitment to sensitive skin.

We believe that claims should be clear, specific and supported by appropriate evidence. Here, we explain what sits behind our products and where you can find further information.

At a glance

  • Sensitive skin has been our starting point for every formula since we began in 1997
  • Over 100 products are independently certified organic by COSMOS or Organic Food Federation
  • Independent dermatological testing supports our claims for sensitive skin suitability
  • We donate 10% of net profits to charity partners, including the Marine Conservation Society
  • Find clear ingredient and certification details on every product page. Browse our products now

Independently certified organic products

Independent certification gives you more than a word on a label. It means that an individual product has been assessed against a defined standard by an external body.

As of September 2026, 35 Green People products are certified to the COSMOS Organic standard by Soil Association Certification. A further 67 products are certified organic by the Organic Food Federation.

Certification applies to individual products rather than automatically extending across our entire range. As part of the process, formulations and ingredient documentation are reviewed against the relevant standard, and manufacturing processes are subject to regular checks.

Our connection with organic certification goes back many years. In 1999, Charlotte joined the Soil Association committee that helped develop the UK's first standards for organic health and beauty products.

Today, you can find the relevant certification, natural-origin percentage and certified organic ingredient percentage on each certified product’s page and packaging. You can discover our organic certifications or learn more about the independent COSMOS standard.

Dermatologically tested for sensitive skin

Because sensitive skin is at the heart of Green People, testing the skin compatibility of our formulas matters to us. We want you to use our products with the confidence that they will be kind to your skin.

Independent testing has been conducted on 40 Green People product formulations. Each has been assessed through a 96-hour primary irritation patch test involving 30 volunteers to ensure they are suitable for those with reactive skin.

The results support the claims "dermatologically tested" and "clinically proven to be kind to sensitive skin" for the precise formulations tested. We only apply these claims where the tested formulation version has been confirmed as matching the product currently being sold.

Over 60,000 five-star reviews and 360 awards

Independent certification and carefully controlled testing are important, but so is the experience of the people who use our products every day. We listen closely to the feedback from those who have transitioned to organic care.

Green People has received more than 60,000 five-star customer reviews. Our products have also received more than 360 awards from beauty, wellbeing and consumer organisations over the last two decades.

These reviews and awards cover products from across our skin care, hair care, body care, children’s and sun care ranges. They provide a valuable perspective on how our products perform for you in real-life, daily routines.

Animal-testing law and vegan registration

EU law prohibits testing finished cosmetic products and cosmetic ingredients on animals for cosmetic purposes. Green People does not test finished cosmetic products on animals or commission animal testing for cosmetic purposes.

Products registered with The Vegan Society display the Vegan Trademark on the individual product page or packaging. You can find registered products through The Vegan Society’s Trademark search.

To learn more about the legal framework, you can read the EU rules on animal testing for cosmetics.

Our sun creams and the seas

Green People sun creams do not contain the UV filters Oxybenzone or Octinoxate. These are among the ingredients researchers have studied for their potential effects on corals and aquatic organisms.

Research into the effects of sunscreen ingredients continues, and we monitor these developments closely. Because there is no single agreed legal or scientific definition of reef-safe, we do not use that description for our sun creams.

Instead, we provide clear information so you can make an informed choice for your holiday. You can read more in the International Coral Reef Initiative’s review of sunscreens and coral reefs.

Giving through our charity partnerships

Caring for people has always extended beyond the products we make. Green People donates 10% of its net profit to charitable causes that align with our values and the needs of our community.

Our current charity partners include the Marine Conservation Society, the World Land Trust and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK. These partnerships help us support environmental protection and those living with health challenges.

Members of our Green Beauty Club can also choose to donate eligible Green Points to these participating charity partners. You can meet our charity partners and learn more about our giving here.

Why isn’t every Green People product certified organic?

When developing a formula, we consider its performance, stability and safety, as well as the availability of certified organic ingredients. Not every functional ingredient needed for an effective product is available in certified form.

Some necessary ingredients, such as certain mineral UV filters or preservatives required for product safety, are not permitted under specific organic standards. This means that not every finished Green People product can be certified organic.

However, every product is still created with sensitive skin in mind. Every product page provides a complete ingredient list, so you can explore our ingredients and see exactly what each formula contains.

Why do we use different types of packaging?

Different formulas need different packs to protect them and allow them to be stored and used as intended. A moisturiser, shampoo, facial oil and sun cream all have unique requirements for stability and ease of use.

When selecting packaging, we consider compatibility with the formula, the weight for transport and the disposal facilities available to you. Currently, we use sugar cane-derived PE tubes, post-consumer recycled plastic, glass and cardboard.

We also offer shampoo bars in cardboard packaging to reduce plastic use. Please check the individual product page and packaging for disposal instructions, and you can read our guide to Green People packaging for more detail.

Where are Green People products made?

Most Green People cosmetics are made in the UK, with the remainder manufactured in Europe. We provide this manufacturing location as factual information to help you understand the journey of your skin care.

We believe the clearest approach is to provide information product by product. On individual product pages, you can find the full ingredient list, natural-origin percentage, organic percentage and certification details.
